Shaker peg shelf made by me!

Do you ever feel like you’re waiting for someone else to give you permission to try something? That’s how I felt about this shelf. I really wanted one, after I saw how great Pretty in the Pines' shaker pegs looked in her kitchen, and I knew it would be the perfect thing to help me transform our hallway area into a mudroom/entryway area. I have never woodworked before, and I felt really intimidated to try, even with this simple project. I don’t see a lot of girls who live in apartments woodworking, so I assumed it would require tools that I didn’t own, and knowledge that I didn’t have. ⠀

It… was not that hard at all. I got my wood cut down at Home Depot (not ideal because it did look like the boards were chewed on the end, but I don’t have a saw, so it was fine!) and I bought the right type of drill bits for making big holes for the pegs, and just screwed everything together. It’s really sturdy and I’m not exactly sure how we’ll get it off the wall when we move, but I’m really proud of it! ⠀

This shelf made me realize how many self limiting beliefs I hold onto subconsciously, and how fun it is to try to learn something new. I feel like a whole new world has been opened up to me! ⠀
