Wedding Stationery Pieces Explained: The Reception Card
What is it?
Typically a smaller card, it directs your guests to the reception site. This can be especially helpful if your ceremony and reception are in two different venues.

When should I send it out?
It should be included with your invitation, which we recommend sending out 8-12 weeks before the wedding.
What information should I include?
The name and address of your reception site. The time the reception begins, if it is not immediately after your ceremony.

Why should I care?
It’s a great little formal detail, and it eliminates the need to include the address of your reception site on your invitation, which can be simpler, visually. Personally, I just love how classic it feels - there’s just something about that little ‘reception to follow’ card that makes my heart flutter. Since it is often very small, it won’t add a ton of cost to your suite. If you don’t want to spend the money to get a custom map and directions card made, you can easily add the reception card for a special touch.
