Save the Dates: Wedding Stationery Pieces Explained
What is it?
The save the date has become the standard first step in wedding stationery - it literally tells your guests to save the date of your wedding!

When should I send it out?
We recommend sending them out 6-9 months before the wedding, but you can send them out as soon as you have your date and venue set. If you have a large number of out of town guests, they can be especially helpful in making sure everyone gets their travel plans arranged well in advance.

What information should I include?
You and your love’s names, the date of your wedding, and the city your wedding will take place in. We also highly recommend including your wedding website, and any accommodation information you may have. This will help your guests know that they should feel free book their hotels as soon as possible.

Why should I care?
The save the date can be super fun! Many couples use it as an opportunity to showcase their engagement photos (and you look great in those photos, so you should definitely go for it), but it’s also a time that you can get creative. Save the dates are setting the tone for your stationery, but they don’t necessarily need to be as formal as your invitation - they should get your guests excited to learn more. You can experiment with different printing processes, unique shapes, or incorporating special elements, like an illustration of you, or the flowers that are inspiring your event, or the city where you’re getting married. It doesn’t even have to be a paper card - while lots of couples opt for magnets, we think there are lots of other fun ideas out there, like coasters, confetti poppers, balloons, or even a mini bottle of champagne, with the label as your save the date. How fun is that? (please email us if you love that idea - we can make it happen, and I’m pretty sure we’re destined to be best friends.)
