Rituals
Daily rituals are such a great way to keep yourself present, feeling calm, and feeling good. I like rituals better than trying to establish a strict routine, because they are things that can be done at any time, and they can help you feel calm and grounded no matter where you are. One of my favorite rituals is that David and I go on a walk every day. It started because we needed to walk the dog, but he’s not able to go as far as he once was, so now we go on our own walk. It is so nice to know that I’m at least going to spend a little bit of time outside every day, to move my body, and to have a chance to have focused one on one time with David, minus the distractions of work and chores/phones at home.
Another ritual I love is that I get into my pajamas as soon as I’m ‘done’ for the day. Usually it’s right before dinner is ready, but it’s such a nice signal that it’s time to just relax and enjoy the evening.
It feels kind of silly to be writing about my rituals, since they are so simple, but I think that’s what makes them effective! Do you have any rituals?
