My year in review

If I had to sum up 2018 in a word, that word would be BUSY! Like, real real busy. Like… I am just now catching my breath and it’s December kind of busy. I spent a lot of time being like ‘I think it’s going to slow down next week/month’, and then it just didn’t. It honestly feels like a blur. That being said, I got a lot done this year! I thought it would be fun to look at some of the projects I took on, even the ones that feel like one million years ago.
Anna was the sweetest, most easygoing bride, and I loved the simple elegance of their invitation suite. My favorite element was the printed, envelope folded belly band - it was my first time working with that particular type of element, and I love how well it turned out. I worked on this wedding with Gather Together Events - understated elegance with special details is kind of their thing, and I think we nailed it here.
Kelly and Joseph had such a graphic and modern suite - it felt like a breath of fresh air! I’m so thrilled with how everything turned out, and that plaid gets me every time I look at it.. I love it.
Caitlyn’s suite is a lot like her personality - bright, bold, and a lot of fun. Something I really loved this year was how my brides trusted me to push the envelope a little bit - this is far from traditional, but still extremely elegant, and it really gives you a sense of what an incredible event their wedding was. I worked on this wedding with Viva L’Event.
Lucy and Van’s suite had so many elements I was honestly a little afraid I had forgotten something, and had to double check it like a million times! I loved it. I loved how it all came together, and their wedding was honestly incredible… I say it like I was there, but I was just stalking all the vendor’s instagrams, haha! I worked on this wedding with the lovely Stephanie from Viva L’Event, who always brings me the most fun clients.
Shannon and Mark had a really unique vision, which was so fun to bring to life. I loved the mix of bold vintage floral illustrations paired with my softer watercolor, and you know I love a good vellum accent. I worked on this wedding with A Southern Soiree!
Margaret and Spenser got engaged during the solar eclipse, and we wanted to bring that in without being too themed. I loved painting these soft moonflowers, and pairing it with elegant typography.
Suzie and Brandan wanted something modern and clean, and I was so excited that they wanted to take a risk with blind debossing their names! I knew it would pay off, but sometimes clients are hesitant to make the bold choice - I get it, but it’s sooo exciting when we go bold! I loved how their suite turned out, and I loved how decisive Suzie was in her decision making. I think we nailed her vision. I worked on this suite with Carrington from McLean Events, who really outdid herself with this wedding!
Taylor is such a sweetheart, and it’s killing me I don’t have any good photos of her whole invitation suite, because it involved handmade paper and gold foil, and oversize wax seals. It’s pretty great. For now, her foil pressed save the date with a custom illustration of Graylyn will have to do - I love how elegant and old world this feels.
There are honestly so many other projects I feel so privileged to have worked on this year. I wish I could include them all, but a) this post is already super long, and b) I don’t even have good photos (yet!) of half of them! Just know if you were or are a client of mine, I so appreciate you, and genuinely love the work that we do together. My favorite part about my job is bringing someone’s vision to life - I feel so lucky to have such creative clients who trust me so completely. People often ask me if I deal with a lot of ‘bridezillas’ (and I hate that term), but the honest truth is that more likely than not, by the end of a project I feel like I’ve made a friend. So, thank you for trusting me with your invitations, for welcoming me into your lives during such a happy and emotional time, and for being the reason I get to pursue my passions every day. I love you all!
