Kate & Drake’s soft, romantic mountain wedding invitation suite

Every once in awhile, a project that is a little personal to me comes across my desk. I’ve known Kate and Drake for years - Drake and my husband, David, lived together in college! Drake and Kate started dating around the same time that David and I did, and let me tell you, we had a lot of fun together in their apartment, that was largely unfurnished except for an elaborate tiki bar and large plant that David’s previous roommate had left behind!

Fast forward a few years, and we are so excited to learn that Drake and Kate are getting married! They decided to have their wedding in Asheville, NC, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. We drew a lot of inspiration from their venue, the Asheville Arboretum, a beautiful garden with stunning mountain views.

I wanted a tonal, airy look that incorporated the outdoors element of their wedding without looking too rustic, or mountainy. We achieved that by using a series of patterns carried through their save the date and invitation, and blind debossing the pattern on their invitation, for an ultralight look.

We finished the look with a vellum wrap, sealed with a champagne wax seal. I love vellum, because it has such a light and modern look, yet works so well with a more traditional style invitation - it’s a chameleon paper!
